Walk In Balance Alexander lessons are empowering. You will discover an improved way of embodiment, where you can increasingly sense more of your potential, and return to a profound state of being.
You are encouraged to come as you are, no need to try to be or show something different than what is really going on with you right now.
The process in Alexander lessons is a mutual educational experience rather than the usual patient-practitioner relationship.
We will address your hopes and concerns regarding your posture and movement potential. Be open to learn about yourself in an unconventional but at the same time very professional way.
Lessons are an educational program tailored to your individual needs.
Private lessons are the fastest and most transformative way to improve yourself. We study what we as humans do, such as walking, sitting and standing, breathing, singing, reaching, bending... you name it.
Flora is highly skilled to tune in to your needs through conversations with you. The combination of hands-on and verbal guidance through a range of familiar movements and specialized activities will help you explore your personal patterns.
Together we find out: how can you bring greater comfort, ease, efficiency and power into what you do? How can you age gracefully? How can you learn to infuse our daily experience of the present moment with space and lightness, so that you can truly "Walk In Balance?"
The Alexander Technique is a method of reduction, not an "add-on".
The more clearly you can see which postural behavior patterns cause your discomfort, the more you can stop doing them and wire you brain for new, more efficient patterns. Private lessons provide in-depth learning and self-study, and are great to learn at your own pace.
Who can take lessons?
Anyone regardless of age, body type and ability, who experiences discomfort due to poor postural alignment or recurrence of old injuries. This is especially important for modern developers and engineers.
Professionals in physically demanding and mentally stressful occupations, such as doctors, teachers, professors, managers, as well as people going through life changes such as children and teenagers, can learn to improve and preserve their postural and mental well-being.
Lessons are not a series of treatments and no exercises or special equipment is involved.
Lessons are a kind of research laboratory to find new ways to recognize and change physical habits. A specialized gentle touch and sophisticated observation will help you develop better coordination of thought and movement, which will in turn help restore your body's original poise.
Lessons are not about adding anything new, but to learn how to free body and mind of excessive tension and counter-productive ways of being, so a more natural state can start to emerge.
You will leave your first lesson with a new sense of balance and well-being that will slowly begin to take root and grow in your daily life. Sharpened senses and clarity of thinking starts to replace the old tendencies of slumping and tensing.
How many lessons are needed?
As with becoming proficient in any skill, time and dedication are fundamental aspects of making lasting changes. How many lessons you need is highly individual. You will know right after the first lesson if the Alexander Technique resonates with you and if you want to make it your own. F.A.Q.
Small Group Classes
Small group classes are great for a group of friends, couples, or families with children. Together you can learn how to stay easy in your body as you go through the motions and emotions of daily life.
Some of the benefits are that you can function as a mirror for each other, learn to give encouraging feedback and support each other in the process of un-learning tension and unease. As a bonus, it can save you money!
Flora has experience teaching small groups with different focal points, such as:
Improved posture and self-expression for couples, families and teams
Helping teens cope with stressful postural habits/building physical self-confidence
Physical challenges during pregnancy and caring for young children
Injury prevention for Yoga- and other movement practices
